Who's Coming to Your Dream Dinner Party?

There’s a question that comes up at almost every good dinner party: if you could invite anyone in history to sit at your table, who would you pick? Einstein? Beyoncé? Julius Caesar? All three?

That question is now an app. Dream Dinner Party lets you pick up to six guests from any era, any field, any corner of history, publish your lineup, and let the world weigh in. Is your table better than everyone else’s? Only one way to find out.

Build Your Dream Guest List

Sign in with Google, search for your guests, arrange them around a virtual table, give your dinner party a name and hit publish. From there, other people can browse lineups and vote for their favourites. It turns out a leaderboard for hypothetical dinner parties is one of those things you didn’t know you needed until it existed, and it’s surprisingly hard to stop tweaking your list.

The search casts a wide net too. It pulls from TMDB for actors, musicians and cultural figures, and from Wikidata for scientists, philosophers and historical figures who never got an IMDb page. Between the two you can seat pretty much anyone who ever left a mark on the world, from Cleopatra to David Bowie.

What’s Next

The core experience is done and the table is set. Coming up next are more ways to sign in including Twitter, some analytics to see which guests people keep coming back to, and a few UX touches to make the whole thing feel even more seamless.

Head over to dreamdinner.party and start building. Six seats. All of history. Good luck choosing.
